He was a member of Lockett Baptist Church and a member of Vernon Masonic Lodge. He loved collecting stuffed bears, mowing grass, plowing, raising miniature donkeys and horses. He was involved in law enforcement, working at Vernon State Hospital, Supervisor of Security. First Class, serving in Vietnam and receiving the Bronze Star.
